We all came into the world with more senses than what we commonly use. Often we are told as young children to 'not be ridiculous', IE; uncle Fred is NOT standing behind me, you do not have a friend in your room, etc.
But what if your parents understood what you were seeing or feeling and didn't correct or admonish you? Chances would be much higher that you would continue to use your extra abilities, until perhaps you began school and mentioned seeing ghosts to classmates who laughed at you and called you a freak?
There are 1000's of stories similar to the above scenarios to be found on the Internet. As children we believed it bad to be different from others and told ourselves things like "if no one else can see ghosts then, I won't either!". The mind is very powerful. Combined with human will or desire and POOF! Extra senses shut down.
We still use our extra abilities from time to time. Without thinking we reach out with our minds to check on our children. When running late - we slow down time. We know the phone is getting ready to ring. Perhaps we even know who is calling. Small things, true. Not the type of things you normally discuss over coffee with friends.
We are all afraid to be labeled 'DIFFERENT' or worse 'CRAZY'.
Have you ever met someone and felt an instant dislike or even revulsion? No reason that you can discern. Perhaps the hair on the back of your neck rose or your stomach clenched. This has happened to me twice. The second time it happened, I was introduced by a friend to her co-worker. I'd heard lovely things about this woman yet when I met her, I couldn't get away fast enough. I would not shake her hand. A few months later, I read in the local paper, the person was arrested as a child molester.
Anyone who tells you they do not get vibes or flashes of insight is most likely not being honest.
Men, as much as women, also have extra abilities.
People may comment on odd knowings they have but, will baulk at being labeled 'psychic' or deny having ESP (Extra Sensory Perception).
A simple extra sense, that we are all born with, frightens people.
Do you use your extra senses or would you like to?
